6:01. thanks for joining us. i'm eric thomas. >> i'm kristen sze. homicide investigators today plan to search a pittsburg landfill for a fourth straight day hoping to turn up clues or locate the remains of a hercules man believed to be one of five victims at the hands of a single bay area man. thomas is live at the landfill with the latest. >> good morning. took investigators about a week to figure out that this might be the place where they'd find frederick sales body. they've been searching for it, the remains of frederick for the past three days and a couple hours they begin the search again. the keller canyon landfill is where investigators will continue to search for 35-year-old frederick sales who has been missing since august 26. his whereabouts led police investigators here to pits berg, the canyon landfill. investigators are combed through 3,000 tons of trash, garbage and debris looking for sales' remains. the search has not turned up any new clues. >> unfortunately all the effort they've put in the last couple days they have yielded no results. they're going to continue un

. the assistant curator at the aquarium of the bay in san francisco told us shark sightings are common in the bay area this time of year. in fact, the large seven-gill shark on display at the aquarium was caught last month near alcatraz. but he says shark attacks on humans are rare. >> obviously, there have been documented cases of shark attacks. but again, at the same time there are also statistics that will say you're more likely to be struck by lightning than you are to be, you know, bitten by a shark. >> reporter: experts also say many varieties of sharks visit the northern california coast. particularly between august and december. >> it's not uncommon for them to come into the bay, particularly right underneath the golden gate bridge into the mouth of the bay. they will come in there to feed off sea lions. >> reporter: and experts admit there have been more sightings of great white sharks this summer than usual. they say that should be a reminder to anyone who goes into the water this labor day weekend to be careful. live in pacifica tonight, monte francis, nbc bay area news. >> all right.

. ktvu's kraig debro joins us live from pittsburg with details. >> reporter: good morning. recovery and search teams will not be using the cadaverrer dogs that are used to find bodies so many times. they say there's too much of an area and too many smells. frederick sales has been missing and they believe he's in the keller canyon area since then. >> they may have had a piece of letterhead with a hercules letter on it. but that's it. >> reporter: search crews, three police officers and volunteers are looking for a body, and not a survivor. police say frederick sales was brought her unknowingly for bringing him -- unknowingly by trash garbage. it's believed valdamoro stole an escalade from one of the vallejo woman and used it to put frederick sales's body in a dumpster where he used to work. >> the business park is also in close proximity to the crepe myrtle residence where the older sales was found. >> reporter: police say the home's owned by the suspect's girlfriend. the saleses and another woman rented rooms from the owner. police say valdamoro was jealous of cindy tran, his girlf
